Just for starters I would like to see a traditional sim sports game with a normal camera and somewhat normal controls.
Agree. How disheartening would it be to have beautiful visuals and presentation, all to be axed due to a crazy camera.
But with the controls, I wouldn't mind seeing the right thumbstick implemented in some kind of way that gives control to the QB. Aside from QB vision, I can't recall a sports title utilizing the right thumbstick in an innovative way.
Imagination Time: Something like...using the right thumbstick to scan the field -- rotate your QB's positioning giving more accurate throws based on where he's setup. Like a previous poster said, nothing more frustrating than shuffling right and throwing a dart across your body PERFECTLY ACCURATE to the opposite corner of the endzone. It is a form of QB Vision of previous Maddens, but one thing I admire about NBA 2K's implementation of the right thumbstick is that it is multi-use. I can shoot and crossover with it. Imagine the QB being able to pass with this. Depending on where you're setup and aiming at, hold down the left trigger and flick the right thumbstick in the direction of your receiver -- VOILA, a nice touch pass drops in the breadbasket. Or you can long-hold in the direction and throw a dart. All of these things factors of ratings, touch, and accuracy, of course. Also optional/standard, you can be a button pusher if you like, nothing wrong with that
.
This probably wouldn't go well with some who just wanna drop back and click a button to deliver passes, but some would possibly enjoy. I'd just like to see an innovative implementation of this thumbstick. Like hearing you guys' ideas/wishlist items. Keep em coming!
What i would love to to see is the right stick give us all types of options on defense and contextual to the situation.
Just for tackling just for an example.
Running into the ball carrier will give you the best wrap tackle your player stats can provide.
Keep in mind that relation to the ball and camera angle will change the direction of the controls respectively, like what we see in NBA 2k unless you change the controls absolute to the camera or ball carrier. Meaning no matter what, your right is your right and up is always up on your controller.
So..
Left/Right Flick right stickShoestring tackles to the left or right. If you make a mistake guessing the direction of ball carrier with
NO juke, cut or spin move the governing cpu will auto correct the tackle, but lowers successful tackle greatly. With a spin or juke this drops success rate of an attempt of this style tackle
Down Flick right stick (towards ball carrier) Flick right stick
High Shoulder Lounge like the hit stick, great for causing fumbles, lower ball carrier's stamina and heart.
Up Flick right stick (away from ball carrier)Low tackle to take out legs (great for big ball carriers)
Thats Flicking the right stick other options for
HOLDING the right stick. ALL hold stick tackles can be held for long period of time with arms reached out wide to attempt at a tackle.
Left/Right HOLD right stickReach/Arm Tackle to the left or right, continue to hold while running will be a
lounge reach tackle like the shoe string aka trip tackle
Down HOLD right stick (towards ball carrier)High Wrap Tackle attempt to overpower ball carrier
. Good for stopping big ball carriers and cornering lighter more agile ball carries also can be repeated, you will not just fall down like a mind drone but may stumble and harder to maintain balance, if you're not close enough to tackle. Stiff arms are great for deflecting this tackle.
Up HOLD right stick (away from ball carrier) Low WRAP tackle to tie up legs. Perfect for bigger ball carriers.
ALL
HOLD stick tackles have a higher rate of success at stopping ball carriers than
FLICK stick tackles but are more obvious and can be junked away from easier, and stiff arms are neutral.
ALL
FLICK stick tackles have a higher rate of causing fumbles and lowers stamina or heart (if that's in the game) when perfectly timed but much lower rate in stopping the ball carrier as spins, cuts, jukes are great for avoiding.
CLICKING THE RIGHT STICKwill put the defender in guard area mode to help corner ball carriers. This is probably the easiest way to stop ball carriers as the governing cpu will lounge at the ball carrier's direction. PERFECT for open field tackles and to line up your defender directly for any "style" tackle attempt.
CLICKING and HOLDING THE RIGHT STICK
will actually track and tackle ball carriers for you in a 5 yard radius (EASY MODE) but can EASILY be juked, spinned, stiff armed or trucked
ALL
clicking style tackles will have no power behind the tackle but are pretty good at stopping/cornering the ball carrier but success rate of fumbles are 0% and defenders will fall backwards MOST of the time depending on momentum and weight. This will also lower the heart for your defender for short period of time.
The X button will be CPU governed, it chooses the best case scenario for tackles. X tackles are very ratings based. Stick tackles are very timing based and have risk reward system, not mention SKILLED based
I don't expect all of this to be JM16 but maybe 17, this can make it in there. What do you guys think?
